Ciraccio

The sun never leaves it throughout the day. And from early morning until the last ray before sunset it caresses the dark sand of the Ciraccio beach, which nature has delimited with two imposing tuff stacks.

Thrown into the sea by the ancient subsidence of a part of the tuffaceous ridge that surrounds the beach of the Cristoforo Colombo promenade. Preferred by those who love to experience the sea in peace and, in the afternoon, enjoy the pleasant company of the mistral wind, which tempers the summer heat. There is a bathhouse.

Ciracciello or Chiaiolella

The two stacks of Ciraccio naturally mark the border with the larger Ciracciello beach, also known as Chiaiolella beach, which extends between Punta Serra and the promontory of Santa Margherita Vecchia. Right there where the bridge that connects Procida to the green Vivara islet begins. A position sheltered from the winds, from which you can enjoy an enchanting panorama of the nearby Vivara and the island of Ischia. Due to the shallow waters that characterize the sea of the bay, the beach is ideal for families with children. Frequented for its numerous restaurants also by yachtsmen who stop at the nearby dock, which lends itself to pleasant evening strolls. It is very popular with young people, because in that stretch of sea they can practice windsurfing. The beach is accessible to the disabled.

Pozzo Vecchio

Beyond Punta Serra, the beach of Pozzo Vecchio extends. Since 1994 it has become the Spiaggia del Postinofor everyone, because one of the most famous and poignant scenes of the well-known film with Massimo Troisiand Maria Grazia Cucinotta was filmed there. Collected in a bay of volcanic origin, as recalled by the unmistakable horseshoe shape and also the dark color of the sand, it is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. Tournaments and sports courses for children are organized here, while the sea is ideal for snorkeling. About twenty minutes from the port, it can be reached by going down the road from the cemetery.

Chiaia

The ancient village of Terra Murata with its majestic castle observes it from above. The long Chiaia beach, set in a small bay on the east coast of the island, stands out for its golden sand. The sandy bottom makes it a sort of natural swimming pool, ideal for children. Largely free, it welcomes, at its ends, two bathing establishments.

The accesses are also characteristic. From Piazza Olmo there are 186 steps to reach the lido, but it's worth it just to enjoy the spectacular panorama all around; the alternative is from via San Giacomo, entering via dei Bagni, from where you go down a flight of steps.

Other steps lead to the colorful fishing village of Corricella, behind the beach, with an extraordinary view of Capri and Vesuvius.

Silurenza

For diving enthusiasts, the Cannone is a place not to be missed, the most popular, right next to the Marina Grande landing stage. The characteristic rock, so called because it housed a small cannon, is the symbol of Silurenza beach, to the left of the port from which it can also be easily reached on foot. Just the very central location, a few steps from via Roma, makes it a beach very popular with families. A beautiful beach, wide and well maintained, with all the services offered by the bathing establishments.

Lingua

On the opposite side, on the right of the port, lies the Lingua beach, which owes its name to its particular shape. Of all the Procidan lidos, it is the only pebble beach, overlooking the Canale di Procida. Due to the slightly deeper seabed, it is not very suitable for children. It can be reached easily from via Roma or, if you want to take a panoramic walk, from the staircase that descends from via Bartolomeo Pagano.

Asino

From the Lingua beach, following the coast, you can walk to the Asino beach, which has become famous for its literary merits. In fact, it frames most of the daily events of the young protagonist from the novel, winner of the 1957 Strega Prize, “Arturo's Island”, by Elsa Morante, entirely set in Procida, where the 1962 film version was also filmed.
